Arsenal put three first teams stars up for sale

Arsenal list Martinelli, Trossard and Nwaneri for sale as club prepare funds for major summer rebuild.

Some summers define a club’s direction for years.

The decisions made in the weeks after a season ends can shape everything that follows.

Arsenal’s summer is shaping up to be exactly that kind of window.

Fresh from winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final, Mikel Arteta has made his demands clear.

And the board have responded by making three first-team players available.

Arsenal list Martinelli, Trossard and Nwaneri for sale as club prepare funds for major summer rebuild

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are ready to sell Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri this summer, with the club needing to generate funds after last summer’s £268 million spend falls into this financial year’s accounts.

The scale of the financial challenge is significant.

Despite banking approximately £122 million in UEFA prize money from their Champions League run, Arsenal remain cautious around financial sustainability rules.

And need to demonstrate a level of outgoings that matches their ambitions for incomings.

Three players have been identified as the most logical exits.

Martinelli has been at the club since 2019 and has contributed enormously in that time.

But with Paris Saint-Germain having held talks with his agent over a potential move, a sale this summer makes sense on multiple levels.

Trossard has been a reliable squad member.

But at 31 years old and with younger, more explosive options being targeted, his time at the Emirates appears to be drawing to a close.

Nwaneri’s situation is the most intriguing.

The teenage academy product has been one of the most talked-about young talents in English football.

However, a permanent sale rather than a loan would represent “pure profit” on Arsenal’s books.

Making it a financially attractive proposition even if it’s a difficult one emotionally.

The incoming side of the summer is equally significant.

Arteta has made his priorities explicit, with left wing, central midfield and right-back being the three areas requiring reinforcement.

But before any of that can happen, the exits need to be processed.

And their departures would fund the next chapter.
