The last time Arsenal won a trophy was in 2020. So, the pressure is mounting on Mikel Arteta to bring a trophy to the Emirates.

Arsenal finished the season in the 2nd place in the Premier League table. They finished in the same place last season as well.

In the UEFA Champions League, they reached the semi-final where they lost to PSG in both legs.

However, during their journey, they knocked out the defending champions and record-time Champions League winners, Real Madrid.

Knocking Real Madrid out of the Champions League is a huge achievement for Mikel Arteta and his men.

David Raya was fantastic in both legs of that tie. As a result, Real Madrid have now set their sights on the Spanish goalkeeper.

Thibaut Courtois, the current Real Madrid number 1 shot-stopper is already 33 years of age.

So, Los Blancos want to find a replacement for the Belgian keeper before it gets too late.

That is why they have set their sights on the Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

This will leave Arsenal in a precarious situation. Raya is by far the best goalkeeper they have.

So, they will be looking to replace Raya with a goalkeeper who could be an upgrade to the Spaniard for sure.

That is why they are looking at a player who used to play for them but was sold for £16m in 2020.

The current Aston Villa goalkeeper and Argentine international, Emiliano Martinez is on the radar of Arsenal as a potential replacement for David Raya.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are keen to bring their former shot-stopper back to the Emirates.

After Aston Villa lost to Manchester United and failed to qualify for the Champions League, Arsenal will find it easier to lure Martinez back to the Emirates in case Raya decides to leave.
