Arsenal are expected to prioritise signing a new winger during the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attack for next season.
The Gunners relied heavily on Bukayo Saka once again this year. However, injuries disrupted the England international throughout the campaign and exposed Arsenal’s lack of depth in wide areas.
Gabriel Martinelli also struggled for consistency at times, forcing Arteta to rotate constantly in attack during important matches.
Because of that, Arsenal have spent months tracking several attacking targets ahead of the summer. However, their immediate focus remains on Europe.
Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on May 30 in Budapest. UEFA have already changed the timing of the final.
The match could define the season for both clubs and also place several transfer targets under the spotlight. One PSG attacker continues to attract major interest from the Premier League.
According to L’Equipe, Arsenal are now leading the race to sign Bradley Barcola this summer after contract talks between the winger and PSG stalled temporarily.
The report claims Barcola currently has a contract until 2028. However, negotiations over a new deal have paused until after the Champions League final against Arsenal.
That development reportedly handed the Gunners a major boost in their pursuit of the French winger. Barcola has emerged as one of the brightest attacking talents in Europe over the last two seasons.
The 22-year-old helped PSG win the Champions League last season and scored 21 goals during the 2024-25 campaign.
He has also scored 12 goals this season despite struggling for regular starts under Luis Enrique.
Competition from Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia limited his opportunities in the PSG attack.
Now, with PSG reportedly considering attacking changes this summer, Arsenal appear to be leading the race to sign one of France’s most exciting young forwards.
