Arsenal continue to explore attacking additions after an already busy summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta wants more quality in wide areas as the Gunners prepare to defend their Premier League title. Their failed pursuit of Vinicius Junior has also forced them to consider other options.
Arsenal have already strengthened their attack with Christos Tzolis. The winger arrived from Club Brugge for £34 million after Leandro Trossard joined Besiktas.
However, the Premier League champions remain active in the market. They are now monitoring another established attacker from one of their domestic rivals.
The potential deal has received fresh encouragement because both the player and his current club could consider a transfer.
According to Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips, Arsenal are showing interest in Pedro Neto, while Chelsea would sell the winger if they receive a suitable offer.
Neto is not actively pushing to leave Stamford Bridge. However, he is open to assessing the interest coming his way this summer.
Chelsea have increased competition in attacking positions after signing Morgan Rogers and Geovany Quenda. That situation has left Neto considering his options.
Phillips suggested Chelsea could demand a substantial fee. Previously, the Blues had placed their minimum valuation at around £60 million.
Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have also shown interest in the Portugal international.
Therefore, Arsenal could face serious Premier League competition if they decide to make their move.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is also happy to keep Neto. The Blues are not trying to force him out, making their asking price important to any negotiations.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have already made several major additions this summer. Bruno Guimaraes arrived from Newcastle United for £75 million, while Piero Hincapie completed a permanent move.
Their preseason results have been mixed. Arsenal beat Girona 4–1 before suffering defeats against Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund.
Arteta’s side will next face Como before meeting Manchester City in the Community Shield.
A successful move for Neto could give Arsenal another proven attacking option ahead of the new campaign.
