Arsenal receive welcome injury boost for Crystal Palace encounter

This could be a timely boost for last season’s runners up.

Arsenal have a great opportunity to boost their Premier League title chances with a win today against Crystal Palace.

After Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Brentford yesterday evening, the Gunners could move seven points clear of the reigning champions with a win at the Emirates Stadium.

Should Man City drop points against Aston Villa today, Arsenal could even move six points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side today.

This would put further importance on the last minute goal from Gabriel Martinelli when they met with City earlier on this season

Nevertheless, it will not be an easy task for Arsenal, with Palace having already beaten Liverpool and drawn against Chelsea this season.

Palace themselves, can move into fourth place in the Premier League table with a win today and will relish the title of underdogs.

Arsenal have done a great job this summer of adding to their squad depth, with a lack of it in previous years being a defining factor in their in-season collapses.

Arsenal receive welcome injury boost for Crystal Palace encounter

During Arsenal’s 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, centre-back Gabriel Magalhães went off the pitch with an unspecified injury during the second half.

After the game, manager Mikel Arteta stated that the Brazilian was a doubt for the Palace game.

However, he was spotted on Arsenal’s routine pre-match walk this morning and did not show any evidence of discomfort or injury issues.

The return of Gabriel will be a welcomed one for this Arsenal team, who have conceded just three goals this term.

In addition, they can become the second team in history to go three straight Premier League games without facing a shot on target.
