Arsenal’s past few seasons have been peculiar.

They have seen a rise in the league table but manager Mikel Arteta seems to divide opinion amongst not only Arsenal fans but fans of the sport in general.

Arsenal have finished as Premier League runners up in each of the last three seasons and will aim to make the jump up the table next season.

With no trophies since winning the FA Cup in 2020, manager Mikel Arteta has come under increased scrutiny in 2025.

This is after the club failed to get a striker in January, when this was their evident need.

Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Martín Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Nørgaard and Cristhian Mosquera.

However, it is someone up front that Gunners fans really want.

Alexander Isak has been linked, but Liverpool appear to be the favourites to sign the Swedish international.

Their lack of big-name signings have caused fans to worry.

Liverpool’s lack of signings in both their Premier League title winning seasons in 2019/20 and 2024/25 should give faith to Arsenal fans that buying loads of players is not always the answer.

However, the striker position is more glaring than any positional need in either of those Liverpool campaigns.

Arsenal reignite interest in €50 million Serie A striker

According to reports, Arsenal are set to reignite their interest in Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

Lookman, 27, scored 20 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions.

His total since joining Atalanta in 2022 is 52 in 117.

This includes a hat trick in the 2024 Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, a win that stopped the German side from achieving an unbeaten treble.

Arsenal were said to be interested in the former Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham and Leicester City striker last summer.

They now appear to be back in the market for him.

With the Viktor Gyökeres rumours quietening down in recent days, Lookman could be a more than worthy alternative.

Atalanta are still demanding €50 million for Lookman, something Arsenal may feel is money well spent.
