Arsenal are preparing to strengthen their attack further after winning the Premier League title during the 2025-26 campaign.
The Gunners ended their 22-year wait for the league crown under Mikel Arteta and also reached the Carabao Cup final.
However, Arsenal have continued reshaping their squad as they prepare to defend their Premier League title next season.
They have finalised the permanent £34.5 million signing of Piero Hincapie and secured goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also moving towards completing a £34 million deal to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.
However, their attacking plans suffered a significant setback after Chelsea hijacked their pursuit of Morgan Rogers with a £117 million move.
Therefore, Arsenal have continued assessing other attacking options as Arteta looks to add more quality to his forward line.
According to Ekrem Konur, Arsenal are interested in signing Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal this summer.
However, Julian Alvarez remains their priority target as they consider different possibilities before making their next attacking move.
Oyarzabal enters Arsenal’s thinking following an impressive campaign for both Real Sociedad and Spain.
The 29-year-old scored 15 La Liga goals during the 2025-26 season, matching the best league return of his career.
Furthermore, he converted a crucial penalty as Real Sociedad defeated Atletico Madrid to win the Copa del Rey.
Oyarzabal then carried that form into the 2026 World Cup and played a major role in Spain’s successful campaign.
The forward finished as Spain’s leading scorer with five goals as they went on to lift the World Cup.
He scored braces against Saudi Arabia and Austria before converting a penalty against France in the semi-finals.
However, securing Oyarzabal could require Arsenal to make a significant financial commitment. The Real Sociedad captain has a €75 million release clause.
So, Arsenal could now make a move for the Spain international if they decide to pursue an alternative to priority target Alvarez.
