Arsenal show interest in £60M Premier League defender

Morgan Rogers is not the only Aston Villa player attracting interest from north London.

Arsenal are pressing ahead with plans to strengthen their squad after ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title.

Mikel Arteta has already overseen several changes this summer, with Jakub Kiwior and Karl Hein leaving the club while negotiations continue for Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga.

The Gunners are also working on a blockbuster move for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers.

Villa value the England international at around £130 million, although Arsenal are hoping to negotiate that fee down.

However, Rogers is not the only Aston Villa player attracting interest from north London. According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Ezri Konsa.

The England international has emerged as another option for Arteta, although the club’s interest is currently described as tentative.

Villa are ready to keep Rogers, but they may have to consider other sales if they want to fund new signings.

Konsa has two years remaining on his contract and could command a fee in the region of £60 million, a figure Arsenal are reluctant to meet.

The 28-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders since joining Villa from Brentford in 2019.

Comfortable at both centre-back and right-back, his versatility makes him an attractive option for Arteta as uncertainty continues to surround Ben White’s future.

Now, whether Arsenal pursue both Rogers and Konsa remains unclear, but Villa could face renewed interest in two of their key players as the transfer window gathers pace.
