The summer transfer window has already produced a few twists, and this one might just be among the most surprising.

A top La Liga midfielder, linked heavily with two of Europe’s biggest clubs, is now in London.

Not for a holiday but to seal a transfer that could shape Arsenal’s midfield for years to come.

Arsenal fans have been waiting for midfield reinforcements. With Jorginho now in Brazil and Thomas Partey ready to leave the club, the Gunners have been working behind the scenes.

They need depth. They need someone who can play at the highest level. And they appear to have found their man.

What makes this story even more interesting is the club they have beaten to get him.

Real Madrid were long seen as favourites. At one point, it felt like just a matter of time.

But somewhere along the way, things changed. Madrid backed off, and Arsenal moved quickly to take control.

The midfielder’s release clause stands at €60 million. Not cheap but Arsenal are not hesitating.

Mikel Arteta’s side made it to the Champions League semi-finals and finished second in the Premier League last season. Now, they want to take the next step.

And they believe this 25-year-old Spanish international is the one to help them do it.

According to Express, Martin Zubimendi, now in London with his representatives, is putting the finishing touches on his switch to the Emirates.

Once linked with Liverpool and admired by Real Madrid, Martin Zubimendi has decided north London is where he wants to be.

Arsenal have been working hard to get this done. Now, it looks like they are almost there.
