Arsenal have already strengthened several areas of Mikel Arteta’s squad during an ambitious summer transfer window.
The Gunners signed Bruno Guimaraes for £75 million before adding Ezri Konsa, Piero Hincapie and Christos Tzolis.
Those arrivals have strengthened Arsenal considerably, but further changes could follow before the September 1 transfer deadline.
Gabriel Martinelli now appears increasingly likely to leave after Al-Hilal stepped up negotiations for the Brazilian winger.
Arsenal and Al-Hilal have discussed a permanent transfer worth between £50 million and £60 million for Martinelli.
The 25-year-old has opened the door to moving to Riyadh after previously rejecting interest from Galatasaray this summer.
Martinelli also missed Arsenal’s Community Shield squad and their opening Premier League fixture against newly promoted Coventry City.
Arteta’s side still started their title defence impressively, beating Coventry 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard scored as Arsenal collected three points from their opening league fixture.
However, Martinelli’s expected departure would leave Arsenal needing another attacking option before the window closes.
According to The Independent, Arsenal could target Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan.
Rashford returned to Old Trafford after spending the 2025/26 season on loan with Barcelona under Hansi Flick.
The 28-year-old scored 14 goals and registered 14 assists across all competitions during an impressive campaign in Spain.
Barcelona nevertheless declined their £26 million purchase option and instead moved to sign England international Anthony Gordon.
Rashford has since returned to Manchester United and rejoined Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
His £300,000-a-week wages have complicated his future, while Manchester United remain open to removing that salary from their books.
Rashford has rejected interest from Fenerbahce and several Premier League clubs as he considers his next move.
Arsenal could now offer another option if Martinelli completes his departure and Arteta decides he needs further left-sided depth.
