Arsenal target set to sign new contract

Arsenal made an enquiry for the German international during the summer as they considered options for the left flank.

Arsenal have made a perfect start to their Premier League title defence after strengthening Mikel Arteta’s squad during the summer.

The Gunners collected nine points from their opening three league matches, beating Coventry City, Aston Villa and Chelsea.

They also defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield before beginning their league campaign.

Arsenal spent more than £200 million on reinforcements, with Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa among their major additions.

Piero Hincapie also completed a permanent move, while Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge to strengthen Arteta’s attacking options.

However, Arsenal also reshaped their forward line through several departures. Gabriel Martinelli joined Al Hilal for €70 million, with Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard also leaving.

Those changes prompted Arsenal to explore further attacking additions, particularly on the left side, before the summer window closed.

One Premier League winger emerged on their radar, although his club refused to entertain a potential departure.

According to TEAMtalk, Brentford have now opened negotiations with Arsenal target Kevin Schade over a new contract.

Arsenal made an enquiry for the German international during the summer as they considered options for the left flank.

However, Brentford made clear that Schade was not for sale and retained the winger beyond the deadline.

The 24-year-old’s existing contract runs until 2028 after he signed a five-year agreement when joining permanently from Freiburg in 2023.

Brentford now want to secure Schade on improved terms and protect his value amid interest from Arsenal and other clubs.

The winger has scored 23 goals across 117 appearances for Brentford, including two Premier League hat-tricks.

Furthermore, several Champions League clubs across Europe have monitored his progress as interest in his services continues.

Schade remains an important part of Keith Andrews’ plans, and Brentford are prepared to offer him a substantial wage increase.
