William Saliba has been linked with a move away in recent months.

He signed a new deal in 2023, but that four-year contract is set to expire in 2026, but he has yet to sign a new deal.

The contract situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold has raised concerns in the Arsenal fanbase that Saliba will go down the same route.

As Madrid did with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rüdiger, they waited until the end of Trent’s contract before signing him.

They did play a £10 million fee to get him out of his contract a few weeks early in order to play in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America.

Saliba’s exit would be a hard one to take for Arsenal, given his talent.

At the age of 24, with three seasons of Premier League football under his belt, he is seen as one of the greatest centre-backs in the world.

His absence through injury is seen by some as a big contributing factor towards Arsenal’s collapse in the 2022/23 Premier League title race.

Saliba missed three games in last season’s Premier League campaign.

In two of those games, which were against Liverpool and Aston Villa, Arsenal dropped points on both occasions.

With his future up in the air, Saliba spoke on this situation as Arsenal hope to pen him down to a new contract with the club.

Speaking on his future, Saliba implied that he is hoping to sign a new deal.

However, he did point out that “this year’ they will try to win everything, leaving the situation somewhat up in the air.

The more that time goes on without any official confirmation of a new deal for Saliba, the more that Arsenal fans will start to panic.
