Aston Villa will be looking to kick start their season tonight as they prepare to face Crystal Palace in tonight’s 7pm kickoff.

They have failed to score a goal in a difficult start for the club this season, with a 0-0 draw with Newcastle United and 1-0 defeat to Brentford.

It has also been a frustrating transfer window for the club this summer, Jacob Ramsey exiting the club for Newcastle United.

A victim of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, the £45.15 million transfer that saw one of their own leave for the North East has not gone down well with the Villa fans.

Lucas Paqueta had been linked with a move to Villa Park on a loan deal, but the West Ham United board reportedly want a fee of £60 million for the Brazilian.

Villa are also reportedly in talks with Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio, who impressed on loan at the Midlands side last season.

Unai Emery’s side are now said to be close on a deal for a former Premier League defender.

According to reports, Villa look set to sign former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelöf.

After signing from Benfica in June 2017 for a fee of €35 million, Lindelöf went on to make 284 total appearances for the red half of Manchester.

Despite being around the club for the darkest era of the club’s history since the inception of the Premier League, the Swedish international was still part of a United team that won an FA Cup and League Cup under Erik ten Hag.

He would also be part of a United team that reaching two Europa League finals, under Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Ruben Amorim respectively.

His time at the club came to an end following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
