Aston Villa join Manchester United in race for France World Cup star

Villa have already made a concrete approach to understand the conditions of a deal.

Aston Villa head into the new season after an outstanding campaign that delivered Champions League qualification and Europa League glory.

Unai Emery has already strengthened his squad by bringing in Johan Manzambi from Freiburg and Modou Keba Cisse from LASK this summer.

However, Villa could soon face important departures as they prepare for another demanding season across several competitions.

Youri Tielemans is in advanced talks with Manchester United over a £35 million move, while Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on Lucas Digne.

Manchester United have also been active after Michael Carrick guided the club back into the Champions League places last season.

The arrivals of Andrey Santos and the expected addition of Tielemans highlight the club’s focus on rebuilding the midfield department.

Despite those moves, the Red Devils continue to monitor further options ahead of the new campaign.

Manchester United remain interested in Roma midfielder Manu Kone after Gian Piero Gasperini opened the door to a potential departure.

The report states Roma have increased their asking price to €60 million, which is €10 million higher than last week.

The Serie A side are also prepared to wait until France’s World Cup campaign comes to an end before making a final decision.

Roma believe another strong display in the semi-final against Spain could push his valuation even higher. Manchester United are not alone in the chase, though.

ASRomaLive.it report that Aston Villa have entered the race after Amadou Onana suffered a serious injury during Belgium’s World Cup campaign.

The report adds that Villa have already made a concrete approach to understand the conditions of a deal. Roma, meanwhile, are unwilling to sanction a sale for less than €60 million.
