Aston Villa plan blockbuster Chelsea double swoop

Villa could reinvest some of the money received for Rogers by completing an ambitious double swoop from Chelsea.

Aston Villa enjoyed an excellent 2025-26 campaign as they finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa League.

However, Unai Emery now faces a major rebuilding job following several significant departures and an injury blow this summer.

Chelsea have agreed a British-record £117 million deal to sign Morgan Rogers, while Youri Tielemans has joined Manchester United for £35 million.

Also, Amadou Onana suffered a season-ending injury, leaving Villa with significant work to do before another Champions League campaign.

The Midlands club have already moved quickly by agreeing a club-record £59.5 million deal to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg.

Villa have also agreed a £38 million fee with Wolves for Joao Gomes as they look to strengthen their depleted midfield.

However, Rogers’ departure means Emery also wants to reshape his attacking options before the new Premier League season begins.

According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa have held talks with Chelsea over potential moves for Nicolas Jackson and Alejandro Garnacho this summer.

The discussions took place during negotiations over Rogers’ move to Stamford Bridge, with Villa asking about both attackers’ availability.

Jackson remains a major target for Emery, who previously worked with the Senegal international during their time together at Villarreal.

Negotiations over a potential move are expected to accelerate once Chelsea officially complete their record-breaking deal for Rogers.

Meanwhile, Villa also discussed the possibility of signing Garnacho during the same round of talks with the London club.

Chelsea have informed Garnacho’s representatives that he does not feature in new manager Xabi Alonso’s long-term plans.

Roma have already submitted a loan offer with an obligation to buy, although they are currently prioritising another transfer.

As a result, Villa could have an opportunity to make their move for the former Manchester United winger this summer.

Garnacho would be open to joining Villa if the opportunity develops, with regular football under Emery appealing to him.

Now, Villa could reinvest some of the money received for Rogers by completing an ambitious double swoop from Chelsea.
