Ayyoub Bouaddi set to join Arsenal

Some players announce themselves to the world on the biggest stage.

Not in a domestic league game.

Not in a cup tie against inferior opposition.

Against five-time champions Brazil, at the World Cup.

Controlling a midfield that contained both Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes.

That’s exactly what Ayyoub Bouaddi did on Saturday.

And Arsenal were watching very closely.

Arsenal in talks to sign Lille wonderkid Bouaddi after Morocco star’s World Cup heroics against Brazil

According to The Times, Arsenal have been actively working on a deal to sign Bouaddi for several months, with the Premier League champions maintaining regular contact with the midfielder’s entourage since January 2025.

That long-term pursuit has now evolved into a formal chase.

Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed that Arsenal have made direct contact with Bouaddi’s representatives.

And that Liverpool have too, with both clubs holding meetings with his camp.

Arsenal, however, appear to be ahead.

The message from Arsenal’s hierarchy was clear and direct.

Bouaddi would not be arriving as a future prospect to be developed over time.

He would be an important part of the squad immediately.

That message, according to reports, has resonated.

The 18-year-old’s performance for Morocco in their World Cup opener against Brazil has only accelerated the timeline.

He has made almost a century of appearances for Lille since making his senior debut at the age of 16, the youngest player ever to appear in a European club competition.

A player who pledged his international future to Morocco over France despite coming through the French academy system.

And a player who, after 90 minutes against Brazil in New Jersey, has put the entire football world on notice.

Lille value him at approximately €70 million.

They are aware that every passing game at this tournament has the potential to push that fee higher.

PSG are also in the picture and represent a genuine threat to Arsenal’s ambitions, with reports suggesting Bouaddi was previously leaning toward the Parisian option.

Further talks between Arsenal and Bouaddi are already scheduled for after Morocco’s World Cup campaign concludes.

But when it’s over, one of the most captivating transfer stories of the summer will reach its conclusion.

And Arsenal are doing everything they can to make sure it ends at the Emirates.
