For Manchester United, doing business in this summer transfer window has been tough. The main reason is the lack of European football next season.
After losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League, Ruben Amorim knew that tough times were ahead.
The Portuguese boss has already created a bomb squad, which is the players who are no longer aligned with the plans he has for the club.
So, he was always looking to sell those players and bring in new ones who are ready to share the goal and vision that the Manchester United boss has for the club.
That is why he is ready to let Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony go after letting Marcus Rashford leave on loan to Barcelona.
But Amorim wanted to sign a number of players. Yet, the Portuguese knew that without European football, signing his main targets would be tough.
He got a reality check when Viktor Gyokeres, his striker at Sporting CP, rejected a move to Manchester United and chose Arsenal, as the Gunners can offer Champions League football.
But, the Red Devils are doing everything they can to salvage their transfer window by signing some of the players who want to play for the club.
In this way, they have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mebumo from Brentford, and Benjamin Sesko from Leipzig.
Now, Amorim wants to sign a midfielder, and the Red Devils are working on a deal for Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Along with the midfielder, Amorim also wants to sign a defender. And, according to Christian Falk, they have been offered a chance to sign Dayot Upamecano from Bayern Munich.
Bayern need to sell the 26-year-old this summer. Otherwise, he can leave next summer as a free agent.
That is why some movements regarding the Dayot Upamecano to Manchester United deal are expected very soon.
