Early on in the transfer window, Borussia Dortmund confirmed the signing of Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland.
They have since targeted his England U21 team mate – Carney Chukwuemeka – who was on loan in the second half of last season.
However, it is yet another England U21 star that BVB are also looking to sign.
As per David Ornstein, Dortmund have approached Toulouse over a deal to sign Charlie Cresswell.
He reports that their opening bid was rejected, but talks are continuing between the two clubs.
The English defender joined Toulouse in the summer of 2024 from Leeds United.
In his debut season, he featured in 31/34 Ligue 1 games, starting 29 of those games.
He also played 90 minutes during their opening weekend victory away at Nice last weekend.
Cresswell impressed during the summer as he started all six games for England on their way to U21 Euro success.
The triumph meant that he and Harvey Elliott were the two players to have won the trophy in 2023 and 2025.
Clearly, he is too good for that level now, and the next stage of his development will be senior football.
At the moment, Cresswell has three years left on his contract, so there is no immediate need to sell.
However, you’d imagine that with Dortmund’s comparative finances, they may be able to strike a deal at some point.
It would be very cool to see three English players all playing for the same European side.
This just after compatriot Jamie Gittens left the club earlier on in this window.
