Bruno Guimaraes agrees five-year contract to join Arsenal

Bruno Guimaraes has agreed a five-year deal to join Arsenal this summer.

Bruno Guimaraes has already informed Newcastle United that he wants to leave the club. The Brazilian wants to play for Arsenal next season after Mikel Arteta showed interest in signing him.

Now, he has agreed personal terms with Arsenal. According to L’Équipe, Bruno Guimaraes has agreed a five-year deal to join Arsenal this summer.

The report claims the midfielder informed Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and the club hierarchy of his desire to move to North London.

Arsenal have already submitted an opening offer worth €70 million for the Brazilian international.

However, Newcastle rejected that proposal immediately and continue to resist the idea of selling their captain.

The Magpies are already dealing with a difficult summer following the departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.

As a result, Eddie Howe’s side remain reluctant to sanction another major exit before the start of the new season.

Nevertheless, Arsenal remain optimistic that a compromise can still be reached between the two clubs. L’Equipe reports that Newcastle’s valuation currently stands closer to €90 million.

The Gunners are expected to return with an improved proposal in the coming days as talks continue behind the scenes.

Guimaraes enjoyed another outstanding campaign at St James’ Park during the 2025-26 season.

The midfielder produced nine goals and five assists in 29 Premier League appearances and won Newcastle’s Player of the Year award. He also carried that form into the World Cup with Brazil.

Guimaraes finished as the tournament’s leading assist provider after registering four assists in four matches.

His performances included a two-assist display against Scotland and a stoppage-time winner created for Gabriel Martinelli against Japan.

However, Brazil’s tournament ended in disappointment after a Round of 16 defeat against Norway.

Guimaraes saw an early penalty saved by Orjan Nyland before Erling Haaland’s brace secured a 2-1 victory for the Norwegians.

Meanwhile, Lyon are monitoring developments closely because of the sell-on clause included in the midfielder’s move to Newcastle in 2022.

According to the report, the French club could receive around €6 million if Arsenal complete the transfer for approximately €80 million.

For now, Newcastle remain firm in their position. However, with the player committed to a move and Arsenal preparing another bid, the story appears far from over.
