Bruno Guimaraes Arsenal squad number confirmed

HandOfArsenal has now confirmed that the transfer is complete and revealed Bruno Guimaraes’ shirt number.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Bruno Guimaraes after agreeing a £75 million deal with Newcastle United.

The Brazil international has already undergone his medical and signed a four-year contract, adding another elite midfielder to Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the new season.

The move marks one of Arsenal’s biggest statements of the summer. Guimaraes arrives after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders at Newcastle.

He captained the club and played a key role throughout last season. His arrival further strengthens a midfield that already features Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Martin Odegaard.

Meanwhile, HandOfArsenal has now confirmed that the transfer is complete and revealed that Bruno Guimaraes will wear the No. 39 shirt at Arsenal.

The update states that the 28-year-old has finished all formalities following his medical and contract signing.

Rather than taking a traditional first-team squad number, Guimaraes will continue wearing the No. 39 shirt that has become closely associated with him during his professional career.

Guimaraes enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26 campaign for Newcastle. He scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

He also started every match for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup before their Round of 16 exit.

Meanwhile, Arsenal head into the new season as defending Premier League champions after ending their 22-year wait for the title in 2025-26.

Although they fell short in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, Mikel Arteta’s side established themselves among Europe’s elite.

Their preseason preparations have also provided encouraging signs. Arsenal opened with victories over MK Dons and Girona before suffering a 3-1 defeat to Real Betis in Dublin.

Arteta has used those matches to integrate new arrivals, including Christos Tzolis and Piero Hincapie. Also, he could give opportunities to several academy graduates ahead of the Emirates Cup and Community Shield.
