Chelsea continue planning for a busy summer as the club prepares for a new era under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.
The Blues endured a disappointing campaign and finished 10th in the Premier League. That result left Chelsea without European football next season and increased pressure for significant changes.
Several new arrivals are expected at Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes. At the same time, the club continue assessing potential opportunities in the market.
One player recently linked with Chelsea is Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
The England international spent last season on loan at Barcelona after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.
Rashford enjoyed a productive spell in Spain and contributed 14 goals across all competitions. He also helped Barcelona win La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.
For much of the season, a permanent move appeared likely. Barcelona held an option to sign Rashford for around £26M as part of the original loan agreement.
Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco regularly praised the forward during his time at the club.
However, Barcelona changed course after completing a £70M deal for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
The arrival of Rashford’s England teammate significantly altered the club’s plans. Reports earlier this week claimed Barcelona would send Rashford back to Manchester United.
That decision reopened questions surrounding the forward’s future. According to Chelsea insider Si Phillips, the Blues have not completely ruled out a move.
However, Chelsea’s current stance appears cautious. The report claims the club will only consider Rashford if other attacking targets fail to arrive.
Even then, Chelsea would reportedly only explore a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer. Several clubs continue monitoring the situation.
Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have all received links with the England international in recent weeks. For now, Chelsea remain an interested and are exploring options.
