In the current era, a player choosing Manchester United over Manchester City is quite shocking. However, something like that could happen next summer.
This January, Antoine Semenyo already picked the Citizens over the Red Devils. However, the opposite is on the card in the next summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola’s men are challenging for the Premier League title. They are just four points behind the league leaders Arsenal.
And, Manchester United are fighting for a place in the Champions League. They have already caught the attention of everyone after defeating Manchester City and Arsenal in back-to-back games.
Now, they might defeat their arch-rivals in the transfer market as well with one Chelsea star already picked them over their arch-rivals. So, the Blues may have to make an undesired decision.
According to The Sun, Cole Palmer is open to a sensational move to Manchester United, with the England international growing increasingly unsettled in London.
The 23-year-old joined Chelsea from Manchester City in September 2023, but sources now suggest he would welcome interest from Old Trafford.
Palmer’s situation has not gone unnoticed. The attacker has struggled for continuity this season, starting just 11 matches due to a persistent groin injury.
He was also absent from Chelsea’s squad for their recent 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, further fuelling speculation about his long-term future.
Despite signing an improved contract until 2033 last season, Palmer is missing his hometown. And he regularly returns to Manchester to spend time with family and friends.
That pull towards home is believed to be a major factor in his thinking. Palmer was a Manchester United fan growing up and they are firmly on his radar.
If Palmer does become available, United would be listening. And if the opportunity arises, it is clear which Manchester club he would choose.
