A big move

After an exciting summer transfer window, Everton were bumped back down to earth on Monday.

They fell to a 1-0 defeat against newly promoted Leeds United at Elland Road, and played poorly throughout.

This has lead to fans being even more keen to see new players get over the line.

Even before Monday, the consensus was more bodies were needed – never mind afterwards.

Well, it looks like they are going to get at least one more player in.

As per David Ornstein, (with help of The Bobble and Paul Joyce), The Toffees are closing in on agreement with Southampton for Tyer Dibling.

He reports that the proposed deal is just over £40m, + a sell on for the Saints.

Despite relegation last season, Dibling was seen as a bright spot throughout.

Although he was just 18 and 19 last campaign, he played 1883 Premier League minutes.

In those games, he scored 2 goals and created three big chances in a seriously awful side.

He is, quite understandably, rough around the edges, but that is a lot of pedigree for someone of his age.

Due to the emergence of the likes of Lamine Yamal, we can forget just how young that is for a top flight player.

It will be exciting to see how he develops under David Moyes at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

He will be linking up with the likes of Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, in what could be a very exciting attack.

As for Southampton, whilst it is a shame to see him go, that money could see them get the missing pieces for their promotion charge.

That sort of figure for a second tier side is a hell of a lot of money, and they could have a week or so to spend it, wisely or otherwise.
