Everton are preparing for another important summer transfer window as David Moyes looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of next season.
The Toffees struggled for consistency in front of goal during large parts of the previous campaign despite flashes of promise from Beto and Thierno Barry.
Moyes reportedly wants a striker with proven Premier League experience who can immediately improve Everton’s attack.
Several forwards have already appeared on Everton’s shortlist ahead of the transfer window.
One name linked with the club previously now appears back on the radar after his situation changed dramatically in North London.
The forward struggled with injuries in recent years and no longer looks central to Arsenal’s long-term plans.
Now, according to Football Insider, Everton want to sign Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus this summer.
However, the report claims Everton are unwilling to meet Arsenal’s current £20 million asking price for the Brazilian.
The Toffees reportedly remain concerned about the striker’s injury record and would only consider a deal if the fee drops significantly.
Jesus also reportedly earns a huge salary at Arsenal, which currently creates another major obstacle for Everton.
The report states Everton would likely need the Brazilian to accept a substantial wage cut before any move could become realistic.
Everton already explored the possibility of signing the former Manchester City forward last summer and in January.
However, Arsenal reportedly refused to sell him during both windows. That position has now changed as Arsenal prepare for major squad reshaping this summer.
Everton still face strong competition for the striker’s signature. AC Milan, Juventus and Palmeiras reportedly continue monitoring Jesus’ situation closely ahead of the market opening.
The report also suggests Jesus could prefer a completely new challenge away from English football. So, this may complicate Everton’s pursuit even further.
For now, though, Everton remain interested as they continue searching for attacking reinforcements this summer.
