ex-Arsenal and Liverpool superstar signs for Celtic

Some careers take turns that feel surprising at first.

And then, when you understand the full picture, they make complete sense.

He has one Premier League title medal.

A Champions League medal.

Stints at Arsenal and Liverpool, two of English football’s most historic clubs.

Yet, he just called the decision to stay at Celtic an easy one.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain signs new Celtic contract as former Arsenal and Liverpool star commits to Scottish football

According to Sky Sports, Oxlade-Chamberlain has agreed a new deal to remain at Celtic, speaking ahead of the Scottish Premiership opener and describing the choice to stay as one that required very little deliberation.

The warmth he has found in Glasgow, it seems, has made all the difference.

“It was an easy decision to stay,” he told Sky Sports. “I love it here. The club, the fans, the city, everything about it. I’m really happy.”

His journey to Parkhead was not conventional.

After leaving Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain spent time at Besiktas in Turkey before arriving in Scotland.

Few outside Celtic’s walls were certain what to expect.

What they got was a player rediscovering something he had almost lost, winning the league.

It shows in the way he speaks about the place.

The commitment to staying isn’t about a lack of options.

It’s about a player who, after years of fighting his own body, has finally found an environment where everything feels right again.

He wasn’t walking away from it.

The career that once promised so much, England internationals, Wembley finals, Champions League nights under the Anfield lights, took roads nobody planned.

But this one, in green and white hoops in the east end of Glasgow, has taken on its own meaning.

An easy decision.

He meant every word.
