He’s now back at Carrington.
Barcelona decided against signing him permanently.
The £26 million buy option wasn’t triggered.
The Catalan club wanted him on different terms, either another loan or a reduced permanent fee.
Manchester United said no to both.
And now, from an entirely unexpected direction, a new suitor has arrived.
Fenerbahce ready to break the bank for Rashford as Turkish giants enter race
According to The Sun, Fenerbahce are prepared to make a major financial effort to sign Rashford this summer ,with the Turkish side having already contacted the England international’s representatives and placing him at the top of a three-man attacking shortlist alongside AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr.
Manchester United are open to selling.
Rashford’s contract runs until 2028, giving the club leverage, but the desire to clear his wages and generate funds before the window closes is real.
He made two goal contributions in six appearances during England’s run to the World Cup third-place play-off.
Those performances reminded people what he’s capable of when his confidence is high and a manager trusts him.
However, Carrick trusts him.
That dynamic gives this pursuit a weight that Tottenham’s approach earlier in the summer couldn’t match.
Despite that, a move to Turkey still appears highly unlikely given Rashford’s desire to remain at elite European level.
Talks between Fenerbahce and United are reportedly scheduled this week.
The phone call has been made.
Whether the answer changes is now entirely up to Rashford.
