Some stories from football don’t involve transfers or results.
They involve something far more serious.
The kind of conduct that has absolutely no place in the sport, or anywhere else.
And today, the Football Association has delivered its verdict.
Pierre Dwomoh handed 11-match ban by Watford after racist abuse
According to Adam Drury, former Watford midfielder Pierre Dwomoh has been suspended for 11 matches by the Football Association.
This follows an independent regulatory commission ruling that found him guilty of “very serious” racist conduct.
He has also been fined £2,500.
Watford have terminated his contract and expressed full support for the decision.
Thus, the incidents took place during pre-match warm-ups at the club’s London Colney training ground in the autumn of 2025.
The victim was a young player of Indian heritage.
Yet, the remarks directed at him included questions about his skin tone and a comment about corner shops.
Delivered, according to the written reasons, with a smirk and in a joking tone.
Player A did not immediately report the first incident.
However, it was only after the second, that the full picture emerged.
Upon being told the club was aware of what had happened, Player A broke down in tears.
Thus, he became emotional again while explaining the situation to his parents on the journey home.
Dwomoh’s response throughout the process also drew criticism from the commission.
He initially did not accept responsibility, before eventually admitting the charges and offering an apology.
Also, a message was relayed to Player A that Dwomoh felt he should “stop playing the victim.”
Dwomoh later admitted saying this, framing it in French as not wanting the situation to be made bigger than it was.
Therefore, the FA sought to increase the ban to 16 matches on appeal to reflect the fact that there were two separate incidents.
That appeal was rejected.
The 11-match suspension has been backdated to April 9, 2026.
However, he is reportedly close to agreeing a deal with a Turkish club.
