Manchester United are looking to sign a midfielder in January. It is one of their primary objectives. However, it is still not clear whether they can sign one in winter.

Now, one possibility for United could be signing a midfielder on loan. They have done this before with signings like Sofyan Amrabat and Marcel Sabitzer.

So, the Red Devils could be looking to repeat that this winter. Now, they have many midfielders in their list.

Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Adam Wharton are a few prominent names that United can sign. However, realistically, they would go for such targets in the summer.

Also, many of them will be looking United’s European position before joining them. It is because there are many European giants targeting them.

That is why Manchester United might have to look for a cheaper option. Ideally, they would look for a loan deal in January.

According to Ben Jacobs (via The United Stand), the Red Devils might look at a former Chelsea midfielder on loan in January.

The player they are targeting is Conor Gallagher. The Englishman is currently player for Atletico Madrid in Spain.

Now, the Spanish club are ready to sell the player. But ideally, they would look for a permanent move.

However, United want to see him first before they make a permanent move. Gallagher has played 95 times for Chelsea in the Premier League.

So, If United want Conor Gallagher on loan, then they need to convince Atletico Madrid first.
