Harry Maguire has made a shocking call on his Manchester United future. His contract will expire in the summer of 2026.

The Red Devils will be looking for a major squad overhaul next summer. Currently, they have appointed Michael Carrick as their interim manager.

Next summer, they will first look to appoint a permanent manager. After that, they will identify summer transfer targets and try to bring them in for their new manager.

Right now, United have planned to add at least two midfielders and a forward, specifically a winger. However, they might look for a defender as well.

Now, many of their transfer activities might depend on their current squad. Manuel Ugarte could leave after failing to impress at Old Trafford. And, Casemiro has already announced his departure.

Now, the future of their previous captain may also decide what United does in the summer. And, the former Leicester City man seems to have made up his mind on what he wants to do next.

According to The i Paper, Harry Maguire is willing to take a significant pay cut in order to remain at Manchester United beyond the end of his current contract.

Maguire is currently earning between £190,000 and £200,000 per week, but is said to be prepared to drop his wages by around £80,000 a week to secure an extension.

Manchester United are actively looking to reduce their wage bill ahead of a major summer rebuild. Casemiro’s exit alone will save United around £350,000 per week.

With Jadon Sancho already gone and Marcus Rashford expected to leave permanently, United could free up close to £900,000 per week in wages.

If Maguire were to depart as well, the savings would exceed £1 million weekly. So, with the England international ready to take a pay cut, United now need to make a decision.
