Liverpool have started a new chapter under Andoni Iraola following significant changes to their squad during the summer transfer window.
The Reds lost several established players, including Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones.
However, Liverpool responded with major additions as they reshaped their squad around the tactical demands of their new manager.
Bradley Barcola arrived from Paris Saint-Germain, while Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo also strengthened Iraola’s options.
The changes have produced an encouraging start, with Liverpool remaining unbeaten across their opening five matches in the Premier League.
Liverpool are also continuing to look towards the future, with their recruitment team monitoring emerging talents outside European football.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are leading contenders to sign Defensor Sporting winger Nicolas Scotti after closely monitoring his development.
The 16-year-old has already broken into the senior side at Defensor Sporting while also representing Uruguay at under-17 level.
Scotti primarily operates from the right but can play on either flank, with his pace and technical ability attracting significant attention.
However, Liverpool face considerable competition, with Arsenal and Manchester United also tracking the highly-rated South American prospect.
Borussia Dortmund are keeping an eye on Scotti, while Sao Paulo and Atletico Mineiro have also made enquiries about him.
Scotti currently has a release clause worth approximately £6 million, although Defensor Sporting could potentially accept an even lower offer.
However, FIFA regulations mean Scotti cannot move permanently to England before reaching the age of 18.
Therefore, a pre-contract agreement represents the most realistic option before he becomes eligible to complete a transfer in November 2027.
For now, Scotti will continue gaining senior experience with Defensor Sporting while also representing Uruguay at youth international level.
Liverpool remain prominent among his admirers as clubs position themselves early for one of Uruguay’s most highly-rated emerging talents.
