Liverpool are entering a completely new era following the departure of one of the greatest players in the club’s modern history.
Mohamed Salah officially left Anfield at the end of the 2025/26 season after his contract expired. Salah’s departure marks the end of a legendary nine-year spell at Liverpool.
Since arriving from Roma in 2017, the winger made 370 appearances and scored 222 goals in all competitions.
He leaves the club as Liverpool’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer and one of the greatest players to ever wear the shirt.
finished fifth in the Premier League last season and eventually decided to sack Arne Slot after a collapse in form during the second half of the campaign.
The Reds have since appointed former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as Slot’s replacement as the club begin rebuilding ahead of next season. One of the biggest priorities now is replacing Salah.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool have made contact with RB Leipzig over highly-rated winger Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after young players in Europe. He is already attracting interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Liverpool are reportedly now in the strongest position to sign the teenager. RB Leipzig are still refusing to lower their demands and value Diomande at more than £112 million.
Diomande is currently preparing for the 2026 World Cup with Côte d’Ivoire and has repeatedly faced questions about his future.
The teenager recently admitted his admiration for Paris Saint-Germain, creating further speculation around a possible move to France.
However, at Paris Saint-Germain, Diomande would face competition from players like Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
So, a move to Liverpool could offer a clearer pathway into the starting lineup after Salah’s departure.
