Liverpool have started their Premier League defence with flying colours. They first defeated Bournemouth at Anfield.
After that, they went to St. James’s Park to face Newcastle United. That games was termed as the Isak derby, which the Reds won due to an injury time winner from Rio Ngumoha.
Next, they faced their Premier League title challengers Arsenal at Anfield. Dominik Szoboszlai scored a world-class free-kick to give the Reds three points.
In the last game against the newly promoted Burnley, Liverpool had to rely on the injury-time penalty from Mohamed Salah to get three points from Turf Moor.
Although it is true that the Reds are not playing at their best, they are getting the job done. And that is what matters when it comes to winning titles.
The same cannot be true for their rivals, Manchester United. The Red Devils lost to Arsenal in their first and drew against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Although they did get a win against Burnley at Old Trafford, the derby defeat at the Etihad has shattered their confidence and any momentum they had after beating Burnley.
The United boss, Ruben Amorim’s position is not secure anymore as the speculations about his sacking have already started.
The Portuguese boss wanted to sign a midfielder this summer. But the Red Devils failed to deliver what their boss wanted.
They were planning to sign their primary target, Carlos Baleba, next summer. However, indykaila News on X has reported that Liverpool will make a ‘serious’ move for the player in January.
Brighton are asking for well over £100 million for the Cameroonian. And, the Reds have shown this summer that they can get such deals over the line.
So, if Liverpool make a move, things will get difficult for United, as Baleba might choose Anfield over Old Trafford given the current circumstances.
