Manchester City are preparing for a completely new chapter after Pep Guardiola’s departure. However, the changes at the Etihad Stadium may not stop with the legendary manager alone.
The Premier League giants endured a disappointing season by their standards. As a result, uncertainty has now started growing around several players inside the squad.
Meanwhile, some of Europe’s biggest clubs are carefully monitoring the situation. Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich are all expected to strengthen during the summer transfer window.
Manchester City remain in a strong financial position, having tied down most of their key players to long-term contracts.
So, the club are not under pressure to sanction major sales this summer. However, one key player under Guardiola is eyeing an exit after he left the club.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester City star Ruben Dias wants to leave the club after Pep Guardiola’s departure.
Dias joined Manchester City in 2020 and quickly established himself as one of the leaders of the back line. He later signed a long-term contract until 2029, underlining his importance to the club.
City reportedly value the Portuguese international at around €60 million. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s interest in Dias is hardly surprising.
Jose Mourinho wants the Spanish giants to actively search for quality defensive reinforcements. Also, Ruben Dias is not the only City defender Real Madrid are tracking.
They are also interested in Josko Gvardiol. However, losing two defenders in one window would be a devastating blow for Manchester City.
The club have already lost Guardiola, and further departures could seriously weaken the squad before next season begins.
Dias has already won major trophies with Manchester City. So, it is hardly surprising that the Portuguese international could now be tempted by a fresh challenge elsewhere.
