Manchester United officially announced the signing of Red Bull Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško yesterday.
Šeško joins for a fee of €76.5 million, which could rise to €8.5 million based on performance related add-ons.
This price that United paid comes after a successful two seasons in Germany, scoring 27 times in 64 Bundesliga matches, along with six goals in 16 European games.
Wanted by many of Europe’s top clubs, including Arsenal, Šeško turned down the opportunity to play for Newcastle United, after the Magpies made a £69.7 million bid for him.
He now has the chance to be a part of the club’s rebuild, as the team aim to massively improve on their 15th place finish in the 2024/25 Premier League table.
United now have the prospect of a new looking attack this season featuring Šeško and fellow summer signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Along with club captain Bruno Fernandes and exciting youngster Amad Diallo, there is a reason for United fans to be optimistic. That being said, we have read this book before in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

During their preseason game with Fiorentina, United recorded footage inside their dressing room.
Earlier this summer, United welcomed Diego León to the club, a few months on from their January agreement with Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño.
He was unveiled to the media, bearing the number 30 shirt. However, in this dressing room footage, León‘s shirt instead had 35.
Šeško wore the number 30 during his time at Leipzig. With the number 11 that he wears for the Slovenian national team taken by Joshua Zirkzee and the number 21 he wore for Red Bull Salzburg taken by Antony, all the signs points towards Šeško wearing 30 for United.
