Manchester United and Everton could battle for another attacking addition during the summer transfer window.
Both Premier League clubs have already strengthened their squads, but further business remains possible before the new campaign begins.
Manchester United secured Champions League qualification after finishing third under Michael Carrick last season. They have since strengthened midfield with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
Meanwhile, Everton are rebuilding after finishing 13th in the Premier League. David Moyes has already added Merlin Rohl, Tyrique George and Hayden Hackney to his squad.
However, both clubs have now turned their attention towards strengthening their options out wide.
According to Corriere di Bologna (via Sport Witness) Manchester United and Everton are interested in signing Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe.
The 23-year-old moved to Italy from Marseille last summer after Bologna paid £17M for his services.
Rowe initially needed time to settle into his new surroundings. However, his performances improved significantly during the second half of the campaign.
The English winger eventually recorded 13 goal contributions across all competitions. Six of those contributions came during Bologna’s Europa League campaign.
However, Bologna’s failure to qualify for Europe has created uncertainty around his future.
The Italian club need player sales to help finance new additions for manager Domenico Tedesco. Therefore, Rowe has emerged as one of the players who could leave.
Bologna reportedly value the winger at around £35M, potentially opening the door for a return to England.
Manchester United could hold an important advantage after securing Champions League qualification. Rowe already has experience in the competition from his time with Marseille.
However, Everton have also emerged as an interested party as they continue reshaping their attacking options.
So, Manchester United and Everton could now compete for his signature if Bologna decide to cash in before the transfer window closes.
