Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have been snubbed by a key target ahead of the next summer transfer window.
This will be a very important summer window for the Red Devils. Their primary focus is on signing at least two midfielders.
Also, they will look to add a forward, a full-back, and a centre-back. So, Manchester United will be very busy next summer.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be looking to strengthen their backline ahead of next summer. This season, they are struggling big time defensively.
They have signed Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alvaro Carreras last summer. But their performances have been below par.
Also, with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba leaving the club, the Los Blancos will be looking to replace them with the right players.
That is why both United and Madrid had their sights on a German centre-back. However, it seems the player will snub both European giants to stay at his current club.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Nico Schlotterbeck will sign a new deal with Borussia Dortmund, extending his stay until 2031.
Real Madrid had him as their number one target for next summer. Manchester United were exploring a move but they never made a concrete move for the defender.
Also, Barcelona had him on their list of targets. However, Alessandro Bastoni has been their primary target.
So, it seems both Real Madrid and Manchester United will now have to look elsewhere for their defensive reinforcement next summer.
