Manchester United will be looking to sign a goalkeeper next summer. Yes, they have signed Senne Lammens last summer. And, his performances have been satisfactory.
But Ruben Amorim is not fully satisfied with Lammens. The Portuguese boss is unsure about giving the Belgian the number one spot.
Initially, this season, United started Altay Bayindir in goal as their number one. However, his performances were poor.
So, they switched to Lammens after parting ways with Andre Onana. However, Lammens has struggled to keep clean sheets despite commanding performances.
United came close to signing Emiliano Martinez last summer. But they decided to sign Lammens instead. Now, Amorim wants an experienced goalkeeper as his number one.
But next season, the Red Devils will be looking to sign midfielders along with defenders. So, they may not have enough budget left to sign a goalkeeper.
So, if they can sign a world-class goalkeeper on a free transfer, the Red Devils would be eager to do such a deal.
However, they can expect to face competition from other clubs as well. In this case, they will face competition from Chelsea and Juventus.
Manchester United have set their sights on a top goalkeeper, who will be available for a free transfer next summer, as his contract will expire in June.
According to Calciomercato, the Red Devils are monitoring Mike Maignan from AC Milan. The French international is also a target for both Chelsea and Juventus.
However, the Rossoneri have not given up the hope of tying him down to a new contract. In fact, they are ready to double his salary and give him performance-based bonuses.
Yet, Maignan is not sure about staying in Italy. So, it makes Manchester United and Chelsea the two probable destinations for the French international next summer.
There is no doubt that Ruben Amorim would love to have a goalkeeper like Maignan at Old Trafford.
