Manchester United’s summer rebuild is quietly starting to take shape, and the focus now shifts toward bolstering the forward line with proven Premier League talent.
After a poor 2024/25 campaign, the club is looking to add pace, goals, and versatility up front—qualities that have been lacking in recent months.
With the manager expected to be backed following confirmation of his stay, United are prioritising players who are already familiar with the Premier League’s demands.
The Red Devils have signed Wolves star Matheus Cunha at the start of the transfer window.
That strategy has also led them to a target who has been turning heads with consistent performances over the last couple of seasons.
Talks between clubs have now begun, according to Ben Jacobs, although no official bid has been submitted yet.
Negotiations are expected to be delicate. The selling club are in no rush, especially given the forward’s contract situation.
Although his current deal runs for just another year, there is an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
That clause gives the club leverage, allowing them to set a high asking price, north of £50 million.
They are also using the recent £62.5 million Matheus Cunha deal as a benchmark in discussions.
However, the Manchester United remain confident. One key factor in their favour is the player’s own willingness to make the move.
He is reportedly open to the switch and views the opportunity to play at Old Trafford as the right next step in his career. The player at the heart of these negotiations is Bryan Mbeumo.
The Brentford star has developed into one of the most reliable wide forwards in the league.
With goals, assists, and an excellent work rate, Mbeumo offers exactly what United are seeking Premier League experience paired with versatility in attack.
While a fee is yet to be agreed, this is one to watch closely as talks progress in the coming weeks.
Manchester United are now in club-to-club talks with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo. No bid yet.
£50m+ required as Mbeumo has a one-year option Brentford can trigger, alongside the 12 months left on his current deal, meaning they don’t feel under pressure to sell.
