Manchester United are experiencing a horrible start to their 2025/2026 campaign. The loss to Brentford was just rubbing salt into the wound.
After that loss, the Ruben Amorim sack rumours are spreading like wildfire. Multiple managers are getting linked to a switch to Old Trafford.
There is no doubt that the role of Manchester United manager is one of the sought-after opportunities in world football.
Already, names like Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola could be in line as the possible successor of Ruben Amorim.
Glasner has made Crystal Palace a top side in the Premier League. They are the first team this season to beat Liverpool last weekend.
Also, Andoni Iraola has done an exceptional job as the manager of Bournemouth.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, there is another candidate who could become the next manager of the Red Devils.
The Italian journalist explained on his YouTube channel that there is one man who has a personal connection with the club’s co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
It is worth noting that Manchester United have not sacked Ruben Amorim yet. However, there is no doubt that the Portuguese manager is walking on thin ice.
If such negative results persist, then he could get the axe with the next few weeks. Transfer News Live already reported on when Ruben Amorim could be sacked.
So, when the Red Devils sack their manager, there is one name who could become a prominent name in the race for becoming the next Manchester United manager.
Romano explained that the former England manager, Gareth Southgate, has a personal connection with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Thus, when the position of the Manchester United boss becomes available, he will be a serious candidate.
However, Southgate needs to be available as well. Otherwise, Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola will be the favourites to take over the role at Manchester United.
