Manchester United are preparing for the new Premier League season after securing Champions League football during the 2025-26 campaign.
Michael Carrick transformed their fortunes after replacing Ruben Amorim midway through the season. United eventually finished third and handed Carrick the permanent job.
The Red Devils have since strengthened their squad during another busy summer transfer window.
Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea, while United also triggered Youri Tielemans’ £35 million release clause at Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund completed a £35.2 million move to Napoli. United are still exploring further additions before the transfer window closes.
Carrick could now strengthen his attacking options as the club prepare for another season involving Champions League football.
According to AS, Manchester United have entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye after making an enquiry about his situation.
The 18-year-old has attracted significant interest as PSG reshape their squad during the summer window.
Ferran Torres now looks set to join the French champions, which could further reduce Mbaye’s opportunities for regular first-team football.
PSG are prepared to let Mbaye leave for around £42 million. However, Manchester United face considerable competition if they decide to pursue a deal.
Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Porto, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Roma and Aston Villa have also shown interest.
United have already focused heavily on rebuilding their midfield this summer. However, they continue searching for further reinforcements before the season begins.
Carrick has one final preseason match against AC Milan before United start their Premier League campaign against Hull City. The club therefore have limited time to decide whether to advance their interest in Mbaye.
For now, Manchester United have made their presence known in the race as several European clubs monitor the PSG winger’s future.
