Manchester United have focused heavily on rebuilding Michael Carrick’s squad during the closing stages of the summer window.
The Red Devils strengthened midfield by signing Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
Baleba arrived from Brighton in a £70 million deal, while Santos joined permanently from Chelsea for £50 million.
United also added Karl Darlow on a free transfer and brought young prospect Tynan Thompson into the squad.
Several senior players have departed, including Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund completed a £43 million move to Napoli after his previous loan spell with the Italian club.
United endured a difficult start to the Premier League season, losing 2-0 away against newly promoted Hull City.
Carrick’s side created several opportunities but struggled badly with finishing after recording 20 shots during the contest.
Their attention has therefore returned to recruitment ahead of the transfer deadline, with another forward under consideration.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth.
The Norway international has emerged as an option while United assess possible additions to complement Benjamin Sesko.
Sorloth is open to leaving Atletico Madrid this summer and would consider returning to the Premier League.
The 30-year-old previously played for Crystal Palace and brings considerable experience alongside a strong physical presence.
He has scored 175 career goals across 475 matches and has impressed since moving to Atletico Madrid.
Atletico are ready to let Sorloth leave, although they first want to secure a suitable replacement.
The Spanish club intend to keep Julian Alvarez but are considering Gabriel Jesus and Jonathan David as possible additions.
David has also been offered to Manchester United as Carrick continues assessing different attacking options.
United have additionally discussed Jean-Philippe Mateta, Igor Matanovic, Fisnik Asllani and Conrad Harder during their striker search.
