Casemiro has already announced that he will leave Manchester United once his contract expires at the end of this season.
The Brazilian signed for the Red Devils in 2022. United paid an initial transfer fee of £60 million along with £10 million in performance-related bonuses.
This made him one of the most expensive players in history over the age of 30. He signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford with a reported salary of around £350,000 to £375,000 per week.
So far in his United career, Casmiro made close to 150 appearances for the club, winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
Now, with the Brazilian already leaving the club, Manchester United will be looking to sign his replacement as soon as possible.
The Red Devils were already looking for a midfielder last summer. Now, with Casemiro leaving, they might have to find another midfielder.
They are already linked with several midfielders like Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Adam Wharton.
But there is one midfielder their current interim manager, Michael Carrick, would love to sign next summer.
Manchester United are unbeaten under Carrick. They have won five and drawn once in the last six games that Michael Carrick was in charge.
Now, he wants to bring in a midfielder he has managed during his time at Middlesbrough. According to Football Insider, Manchester United are leading the race to sign Hayden Hackney.
The midfielder played over 100 times under Michael Carrick during his tenure as the Boro manager. Hackney also won the Boro Young Player of the Year award during Carrick’s time at the club.
Now, his contract with Middlesbrough will expire in 2027. However, the club are looking to keep as they are favourites to secure promotion from the Championship next season.
Currently, Middlesbrough would demand around £30 million. However, if they secure the promotion to the Premier League, this price could go up as well.
