Manchester United are seriously thinking about changing their first-choice goalkeeper.
Andre Onana arrived with high expectations but failed to live up to the club’s hopes.
While the decision is not final, the Red Devils have already started looking at possible replacements.
One name has quickly moved to the top of their list is Emiliano Martínez.
The Argentine keeper, currently with Aston Villa, has shown strong interest in joining United.
His performances for both club and country have been impressive, and his mentality fits the kind of leadership the Old Trafford side are seeking.
Martinez has experience in the Premier League and has built a reputation for making big saves in pressure moments.
He was key in Argentina’s World Cup success and has consistently delivered for Villa.
His style and presence could bring more confidence to United’s backline.
According to a report, Aston Villa are open to letting Emiliano Martinez go if a good offer arrives.
The Midlands club understands the player’s ambition but will not allow him to leave easily.
They have already prepared for the possibility and know what they want in return.
That amount, however, is not small.
Aston Villa will only consider offers close to £40 million, making this a big financial decision for Manchester United.
The coming weeks could shape the club’s strategy. If United move forward, they must act quickly.
Several teams across Europe also admire Martinez, and waiting too long could mean missing out.
For now, the Red Devils are watching the situation closely. If they do decide to part ways with Onana, Emiliano Martínez looks ready to walk through the door.
And, having the Argentine World Cup winner in goal will be a strong statement from Ruben Amorim to the rest of the Premier League clubs.
The Portuguese coach wants to bring glory days back to Old Trafford.
The Emiliano Martinez to Manchester United deal could be the beginning of that.
