This summer, Manchester United are trying very hard to right the wrongs of last season.
They have already brought in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
Nevertheless, such was their dismal campaign last time out, they will need a lot more than just three senior signings.
Well, it looks like they are eyeing up another English Premier League player, after Cunha and Mbeumo.
Football 365 are reporting that United have made “an official approach” for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
The 25-year old has been heavily linked with a move away this summer, and the above report mentions Liverpool’s interest.
With Guehi having less than 12 months remaining on his contract, something now has to give.
If he does not sign a new contract at Palace, they will feel they have to cash in on him whilst they can.
Last summer, they had the same situation with Joachim Andersen, and he was sold to Fulham.
They ended up doing just fine without him – albeit it will be harder to replace Guehi.
Especially with sporting director Dougie Freedman – known for his excellent signings – no longer at the club.
Since Oliver Glasner took over in February of last year, Guehi has consistently played on the left side of a back three.
In theory, this means he would be able to seamlessly slot in that role in Ruben Amorim’s three at the back formation.
We’ll see. One to keep an eye on.
