Manchester United open talks to sign £52M Real Madrid midfielder

United are also facing competition from two other Premier League clubs that have opened discussions regarding the midfielder.

Manchester United enjoyed a dramatic turnaround under Michael Carrick last season. The Red Devils secured a return to the Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League following a difficult first half of the campaign.

The club have also made a strong start to the summer transfer window. Casemiro left after the expiry of his contract, while Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho also departed permanently.

Meanwhile, Ederson is close to becoming United’s first major midfield signing of the summer. However, the Red Devils remain eager to add further reinforcements in the middle of the park.

Carrick’s options could become even thinner if Manuel Ugarte leaves the club. As a result, United have continued to assess several midfield targets ahead of the new season.

According to SPORT, Manchester United have now opened talks with Real Madrid over a potential move for Eduardo Camavinga.

The report claims that although Camavinga has a £1 billion release clause in his contract, Real Madrid value the French international at around £52 million.

United are also facing competition from several European giants that have opened discussions regarding the midfielder.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez and may need to create space in their squad.

That could open the door for a departure this summer. However, Manchester United face a major obstacle.

The report states that Camavinga currently has no intention of leaving Real Madrid despite the growing interest in his services. The 23-year-old has already established himself as an important player at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Therefore, United may have to work hard to convince him if they want to bring him to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.
