Manchester United wanted to sell Rasmus Hojlund as soon as they landed Benjamin Sesko. Hojlund even understands that his performance last season was not up to the mark.
As a Manchester United striker, his job was to score goals in which he failed miserably. Last season, he only scored 4 goals in 32 games in the Premier League.
This is not the performance of a Manchester United striker. That is why Ruben Amorim wanted a change. And after signing Bryan Mbeumo, the Red Devils pressed to sign a striker.
After a transfer battle with Newcastle United, Manchester United finally signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Sesko was also a target for Arsenal at the start of the transfer window.
Once the deal was done between United and Leipzig, Rasmus Hojlund knew that his time was up at Old Trafford.
However, the Danish international kept pressing that he wanted to stay and fight for his place in the team.
But Ruben Amorim wanted to sell him as he wanted to trim the squad and get rid of the players who didn’t suit his style of play.
Transfer News Live reported that AC Milan were interested in signing Rasmus Hojlund. However, Hojlund kept resisting the move.
The 22-year-old was also offered to Napoli, but his response was the same: he wanted to stay.
Now, Manchester United might have to let Hojlund stay and fight for his place. The reason is that AC Milan is on the verge of signing an alternative striker to Rasmus Hojlund.
According to Patrick Berger from Sky Germany, AC Milan is close to signing Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen.
So, it looks like Ruben Amorim will have to include Rasmus Hojlund in his plans, although anything can happen in the closing hours of the transfer market.
