Manchester City have already beaten Manchester United in the January transfer market once this season, with the signing of Antoine Semenyo.
However, as both clubs are looking to sign a midfielder, they will come face-to-face once again. Now, The Citizens are already leading the race to sign Elliot Anderson.
The former Newcastle United star wants to join Manchester City, as per reports. However, Manchester United have swiftly turned their attention to Carlos Baleba.
They know that they have to sign Baleba. But they are eyeing a move for the Cameroonian next summer. In January, they are primarily looking at Ruben Neves.
But there is another midfielder for whom both Manchester clubs will be in a transfer race. The Red Devils will be looking to reshape their midfield next summer.
So, if they sign one midfielder, it will not be enough. Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Manuel Ugarte could leave the club next season.
Therefore, United might have a new midfield setup when the next season begins. That is why Baleba cannot be the only signing for the Red Devils.
Also, Pep Guardiola will be looking to strengthen his midfield next season if he stays as the manager of Manchester City.
That is why both clubs have Alex Scott of Bournemouth on their list of targets. However, according to TEAMtalk, the Cherries will do everything they can to prevent the move.
They have already lost the likes of Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi, and Antoine Semenyo. Now, losing Alex Scott is something that the Cherries cannot afford.
That is why both Manchester clubs will have to make an offer that the Cherries will struggle to reject. Also, Bournemouth are in control of the situation due to the length of Scott’s contract.
So, it will be interesting to see what will happen, as both Manchester clubs will do everything to strengthen their midfield next summer.
