Manchester United are going to be look for fresh changes to their squad.
This is after an extremely difficult 2024/25 campaign, where they finished three places above the Premier League relegation zone.
Ruben Amorim was the man in charge of steering the ship during these unprecedented times of the Premier League era.
He replaced Erik ten Hag as United boss, who was sacked towards the end of October.
Results did not improve and he is firmly on the hot seat going into the upcoming 2025/26 season.
A Europa League campaign helped keep Amorim in the job.
This was a run that saw them go all the way to the final.
An incredible quarter final win over Lyon in extra time is by far the highlight of their season.
They will have no European football to rely on in 2025/26.
Should Man United start the season in the same fashion as they ended their most recent one, Amorim will have no get out clause.
United will need to start well, and need a strong transfer window if they are to do this.
However, they have made poor decision after poor decision when it comes to transfer decisions.
Bruno Fernandes has been the one true great signing over the past five to six years.
He single handedly kept them from being involved in a true relegation fight, a statement you never would have believed ten years ago.
Rasmus Højlund, Joshua Zirkzee Antony, Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Ángel Di María and Mason Mount have all been big money disappointments in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
The club are looking to make smarter signings going forward and they will hope that the £62,5 million singing of Matheus Cunha can be just one of them.
Manchester United see bid rejected for Real Madrid star
It has been reported that the club is looking to find a replacement for goalkeeper André Onana.
In the summer of 2023, he arrived from Inter Milan for a fee of £47.2 million.
This came a month after he played in a Champions League final defeat to Manchester City.
However, it has been a disastrous spell.
With several high profile errors, United fans have become increasingly frustrated with his performances.
It seems that the club have also given up.
A €15 million bid for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is said to have been put on the table.
Lunin, 26, has made 16 appearances for the Ukrainian national team.
He filled in more than capably during Madrid’s run to the 2024 Champions League, whilst Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga spent time on the sidelines through injury.
Whilst he did not play in the 2-0 final win over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley, he has done enough during his time with Los Blancos to show that he can be a regular starter.
