Manchester United have focused heavily on strengthening their midfield after securing Champions League qualification last season.
The Red Devils finished third in the Premier League following an impressive turnaround under Michael Carrick.
Moreover, United collected 41 points after January and became the only Premier League side to avoid consecutive defeats throughout the campaign.
Their summer rebuild has already brought significant changes. Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea for £50M, while Youri Tielemans joined from Aston Villa for £36M.
However, Casemiro departed after his contract expired, creating space for another defensive midfielder in Carrick’s squad.
United are therefore exploring several options as they search for a third midfield addition before the new campaign begins.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have now identified Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams as a potential target.
The United States international could be available for around £35M, making him a more affordable option than some of United’s other midfield targets.
Adams enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign with Bournemouth after overcoming his previous injury problems.
The midfielder made 25 Premier League appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists as Bournemouth secured a sixth-place finish.
Furthermore, Adams carried his form into the 2026 FIFA World Cup and started four matches for the United States during their run to the round of 16.
United’s interest is reportedly influenced heavily by data analysis. Their recruitment team have been impressed by his defensive numbers and physical output.
Adams ranked among the Premier League’s leading players across several running intensity categories last season. He also produced strong numbers for tackles, interceptions and aerial duels.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth are reportedly ready to consider suitable offers rather than completely ruling out his departure.
The midfielder has entered the final two years of his contract, which could strengthen United’s chances of negotiating a deal.
Therefore, Adams has emerged as an attainable £35M option as Manchester United continue assessing how best to complete Carrick’s midfield rebuild.
