Manchester United are already planning for next season. A return to European football is expected to change everything.
So, squad depth will become more important, as more matches will demand more rotation. This season has been very different. The Red Devils have played fewer games than usual.
Also, early exits from domestic competitions reduced opportunities. That affected several players in the squad. Some players struggled for minutes. That naturally raised questions about their future.
One United star, in particular, has found himself on the fringes. His game time remained limited throughout the campaign.
So, speculation around a possible exit started to grow. Also, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup starting in June, it played a big role in his decision to leave the club. However, things have now changed.
According to the Daily Mail, Joshua Zirkzee is now determined to remain at the club. The 24-year-old has played just 546 minutes this season. He has only four Premier League starts to his name.
But next season could be very different. European football will bring more matches and more chances. Also, United are expected to strengthen other areas.
That means less direct competition in his position. Zirkzee has also spoken about his love for the club. He praised the atmosphere at Old Trafford. He said (via the club’s official website):
“When they start singing ‘United Road’ before the game … you sometimes you just look around and you’re like, ‘f—— hell, I’m playing in Old Trafford.’ It’s very special, you can just feel it.”
“This type of energy, aura that hangs around the stadium with the history, the great players that have been in this club.
“It’s just incredible, the stadium, the fans. There’s really nothing like this, I think, anywhere on this planet.”
So, despite earlier doubts, Joshua Zirkzee now looks ready to stay and prove himself at Manchester United.
